As Jaya barring kicking a few butts, Neetu hardly gets to display her histrionics. The film also has an Indian presence with Neetu Chandra Srivastava as one of the fighter girls. The plot of the film is such that it never allows any actor to go beyond a certain limit and thus they look contrived. It appears even the producers were sort of convinced about the film’s acceptance level and thus followed the digital and DVD release path instead of the theatrical route.Īs brother and sister, Olivia Popica and Tommy Bastow look very endearing and the relationship looks real. Never Back Down – Revolt follows a similar trajectory with cosmetic changes and in terms of plot novelty has nothing new to offer. It reminds one of the Blaxploitation genre of the 70s in which most films had a running theme of a group of enslaved girls fighting against the authority for their freedom. The only fresh aspect about the film is that the fourth film ventures into a new direction as opposed to the earlier films – this film is female-centric and it’s they who run the show. The plot is underwhelming and, thankfully, the less than 90-minute duration of the film saves you from further trauma. The plot is something that has been attempted numerous times in the past and now looks done to death. It fits the parameters of a typical B-grade film sans sex. The same cannot be said about the viewers as Never Back Down is an extremely average affair though not exactly torturous.

If in the span of 13 years four such films have been churned out, it only means that the stakeholders of the film series have earned dividends from the films. REVIEW: Never Back Down – Revolt is the fourth film in the Never Back Down series. It’s a murky world that encompasses kidnapping and sex trafficking. When Anya travels to Rome to participate in a by-invitation underground fight at the behest of Mariah (Brooke Johnston), things are not as straightforward as it seems. While Arslan dreams of becoming an MMA Champion someday and earns his meagre livelihood by participating in fights, Anya on the other hand apart from doing odd jobs and studying also takes care of the home. STORY: Never Back Down – Revolt is a martial arts action-drama and is about Anya (Olivia Popica) and Arslan (Tommy Bastow), immigrants from Chechnya, and now living in London.
